I received this bar in about 15 days after ordering and have used it since May 2020. I wanted to use the bar before I made a review. It is now August 2, 2020. I have been working out with weights since I was 12 and I am now 68 years old. I also used to own my own 7,200 square foot gym and used various bars by different manufacturers over the last 56 years. The reason I ordered the bar is due to a traumatic head injury I received in 1972 when I was 19 serving in the Marine Corps overseas which through the years has caused other health issues such as severe muscle weakness and dysautonomia. I can’t start my workouts with regular bars that weigh 30 to 45 lbs on many movements like curls and rows. By using this 22 lb bar I am able to start my exercise and slowly add smaller plates for a few sets. The bar is extremely well made. It is perfectly balanced with what I consider a perfect grip on the bar. Not too aggressive and not too light. It is very comfortable and allows you to have a secure and comfortable grip without damaging the palms of your hands. It fits my York power rack perfectly and the sleeves rotate smoothly. The sleeves are very smooth which I like and my 50 year old lighter (2 1/4, 5, and 10 lb) York Olympic plates with 50 ½ mm holes fit beautifully over the 50 mm sleeves. The weld that is part of the sleeve does not get in the way of the plates being flushed against the inside flat surface of the sleeve. I have looked at other similar bars from manufacturers and I could find a bar of this caliber and design anywhere else. Thank you for understanding how a bar should be made. I want you to know American Barbell how much I really appreciate this bar.
