The American Barbell Training Bar is a solid, versatile barbell for just about any application. We've tested it against the day-to-day abuse of heavy training and it's proven to last.
The bar shaft is made from precision ground alloy steel and the strength of the shaft is tested with every shipment of raw material to ensure we have a consistent 190,000 PSI tensile strength. This attention to detail also allows for excellent whip and long-term performance of our bars. The shaft and sleeves are finished in hard chrome for added durability and corrosion resistance, and the knurl pattern is crisp with just the right amount of tack.
The bar sleeves are precision machined and each one is coated with hard chrome for protection against dropping and impact. Sleeves rotate around high strength composite bushings used in aircraft and automotive industries for smooth rotation.

I always go for Made in USA quality goods. Haven't bought the plates yet to put on the bar to try it out as the shipping was extremely too high but overall this bar is nice.
Great bar. Packaging was excellent. Knurling is pretty light but functional.
I mostly chose this bar over others because I wanted a smooth collar, and many of the competitors intentionally cut grooves. While this collar does not appear intentionally grooved, there are very fine machining grooves which cause a high pitched "zzzip!" sound when you are sliding on plates, that in my opinion is even louder than deeply grooved sleeves. Also, it's pretty hard to get a good gauge on what people mean when they say good knurl. I'm personally a fan of more aggressive knurls; the purpose is to keep it in position, I see no reason to make it any more slippery. I believe I read this had a "medium" knurl. I would call it very light, and fine. My girlfriend's first words when showing it to her were literally "the grip is pretty weak". Besides all that, I think it's ok. I wouldn't buy it again.
This is by far THE BEST Barbell I have ever ever used. The craftsmanship is top notch. The knurling (which was one of my concerns) is amazing and not overly done - It's very grippy but will not tear your hands up. The hard chrome finish looks amazing and completely different than the ornamental chrome used on many cheap barbells you can buy at many large name stores. I was initially on the fence regarding a training bar vs a power bar, but the lack of center knurling isn't 100% necessary for me. I normally use the knurling as a guide to know where the bar's center is, but often times it would tear my shorts up when dead-lifting anyways. I use pipe insulation when I do squats so the knurling isn't necessary for gripping my shirt either. Experience: Been lifting for over 20 years. I have had the opportunity of using many gym barbells through the years. I also personally own a Weider Olympic set purchased via Costco approximately 1998 which is total **** compared to this.
Best bar I’ve used. I used one at my USAW CERT in Santa Barbara then knew I had to get one. Since I’ve received the bar I’ve PRd my lifts by an 18lb jump. It has a smooth feel and just enough gnurling to grip on without tearing up your thumbs I’d reccomwnd American barbell to anyone and everyone
