The American Barbell Elite Power Bar has a shaft made from precision grade stainless steel. The strength of the shaft is tested with every shipment of raw material to ensure we have a consistent 190,000 PSI tensile strength. This attention to detail ensures reliable long-term performance day in and day out. Our selected steel grade for our Power Bars provides very little flex, making it ideal for a variety of max load lifts.
Stainless Steel offers superior corrosion resistance and can always be cleaned and repaired with no damage to the surface. Additionally, knurling set in stainless steel has a one-of-a-kind feeling that cannot be achieved with other finishes.

Beautiful barbell
This barbell is much nicer than the rogue echo barbell that I had before. The sleeves aren’t completely smooth, but they’re much smoother than my other barbell. This make loading weight on it much quieter and less aggressive on the plates. You’d also never be able to tell it was a blemishes bar unless you were really looking for it.

Fit & finish of the bar is top notch even though the bar is considered a blemish. Stainless steel is worth the extra cash. Knurled grip area is fantastic (not overly aggressive) and the bushing sleeves rotate flawlessly without noise.

After several months trying to find a quality barbell for my new home gym in this Covid era when so many manufacturers were sold out, I was fortunate that American Barbell had this bar available as a close-out "obsolete" bar. The bar came to me in the two weeks as promised, packaged in a fortress of a hard tube. The barbell is in a word --magnificent. The shaft has a fine but very grippy knurling that has a high number of "peaks" per square inch with a center knurl that is slightly less aggressive. The sleeves are silky smooth and spin nicely for a power bar as well as having no lateral play. The workmanship is faultless with sleeve welding that is a work of art. I have used it for squats and bench as well as general lifting, but have yet to use it for heavy deadlifts. It will be interesting to see how is compares with other bars I am familiar with in that lift. So far I would say it is a finer bar than those from a large U.S. manufacturer with a Crossfit following and compares favorably with a certain Scandinavian manufacturer with a vaunted reputation but at a much lower cost. As for being an "obsolete" close-out item, I have yet to find the blemish that caused my bar to be cast aside to the seconds bin. Overall I am very impressed by the quality and workmanship of the Elite Power bar.
