Our NEW American Barbell Grizzly Power Bar features a shaft made from precision grade alloy steel, classic sleeves and a hard chrome finish. The strength of the shaft is tested with every shipment of raw material to ensure we have a consistent 190,000 PSI tensile strength. This attention to detail ensures reliable long-term performance day in and day out. Our selected steel grade for our Power Bars provides very little flex, making it ideal for a variety of max load lifts. You will be able to perform very heavy lifting exercises with this piece. This bar was intentionally created to provide you with every benefit that competitor "Texas" power bars provide, but with higher quality materials, and at a lower price point.
This is an ideal choice for those looking for a powerful precision barbell that will last through the ages.

This bar is one of the best bars I have. I would make the argument this is the best barbell to get for strength training, especially Starting Strength. I have always loved bare steel, but tgis hard Chrome is very nice and the knurl seems to have been cut in a way that the Chrome is a non factor. The knurl on this bar is not aggressive; however, do not let that description mislead you, because it still has a great grip. It is less aggressive compared to my B&R 2.0 and especially my Ohio Power Bar, and just as aggressive as my B&R 1.0 bar. While studying it to find out why it still grips so well, it looks like there are more points per square inch. All this means more training can be done without killing your hands, especially thumbs on hook grip. The sleeves rotate well, although not like a "crossfit" bar or weightlifting bar. This is a power bar, so they are exemplary for squats, presses, and deadlifts. If the mission was to take on the famous bar from Texas, I would say mission accomplished.
I've been able to use my new power bar for three workouts so far: one squat, one bench, and one deadlift. The bar feels very good on my back. The knurling is light but it's grippy, so the bar doesn't slide at all when I'm squatting and it doesn't cut into my hands when I'm deadlifting. This is the first barbell I have ever purchased, and so far, I'm quite happy with it.
This is my fourth bar I've purchased from AB. I have the AB stainless bearing and bushing bars, plus their 5kg H-S technique bar. I have bars from 5 other bar companies: Eleiko, Zhangkong, Rogue, Vulcan and York so I have top quality bars to compare AB bars to and I have to say when it comes to picking a bar to train on it's either the AB SS Bearing bar or one of my Eleiko training bars. My buddy who I train with goes straight for the AB SS Bearing bar so I end up with one of the Eleiko's lol. So when it came time to pick up a rack bar to handle heavy squats, bench presses, overhead pressing, and DL's it was a no brainer to go with the AB Grizzly Power bar. Very affordable for such a top quality power bar. American Barbell definitely puts out some of the best quality bars in the industry!!
